Top Dubai Guinness Records

Top Dubai Guinness Records

The city of Dubai holds numerous Guinness records, starting from the biggest building in the world and ending with the biggest cup of tea. Dubai loves records, and perhaps it is even true that the number of records held by Dubai is a record in itself. In the following post, we will cover as many of them as we possibly can. You can use this guide next time you’re in Dubai. Visit the record-breaking landmarks and tourist sightseeing spots that annually attract millions of people from all around the world. And don’t forget to take memorable photos!

Fastest Police Car

It's a world record that is truly unique in Dubai. In April 2016 the Dubai Police Department was awarded a new Guinness World Record for having the world's quickest police car in service - Bugatti Veyron. This supercar can accelerate from 0 to 97 km per hour in 2.5 seconds with a speed of 407 km/h, an engine capacity of 1,000 horsepower, and sixteen cylinders. Yes, that's right. And besides the Bugatti Veyron, other luxury cars in Dubai Police's fleet consist of the Lamborghini Aventador, Bentley Continental, and Ferrari.

Longest Handmade Gold Chain

In the City of Gold, what else is a record? The ‘Dubai Celebration Chain’ is a record-breaking masterpiece that is 5 km long, weighs 240 kg, and took over 45 days (and 100 craftsmen) to produce! It was introduced in 2015 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival. A gold chain with 22 carats was presented at the Deira Gold Souk Bus Station. And guess what? The sections of the chain can be purchased as a souvenir.

The Tallest Chocolate Sculpture

It could be the most delicious Guinness World Record in Dubai! You're aware of the tallest building in the world, but did you know that the tallest chocolate sculpture in the world was a replica of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai? The record holder for the tallest production at 13.52 meters was created by Andrew Farrugia, Malta's famous food artist in 2014, and it took 4,200 kg of Belgium chocolate to make! In order to replicate Burj Khalifa's appearance, it took ten thousand pieces of chocolate, hand-cut by Farrugia and others. It was exhibited in November 2014 at Dubai International Airport as part of the 43rd UAE National Day.

Largest Picture Frame

One of the most iconic Dubai attractions, the Dubai Frame at Zabeel Park, holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest picture frame ever. The Dubai Frame, which soars to a height of 150 meters, offers panoramic views of both old and new Dubai. Visitors can experience the sensation of walking on air with a 25-square-meter glass panel bridge. In addition, a virtual gallery is available to display the history of Dubai. If you've not seen this 93-meter-long miracle yet, now is the time to try it out.

Largest Permanent Vertical Maze

We bet you didn't know this was the coolest world record in Dubai. The Al Rostamani Group Maze Tower holds the world record for the most giant permanent vertical maze ever, receiving the world record in 2012. The 55 floors of this tower in the Dubai Financial District, which is situated in an area of 4,947 square meters, boast a horizontal maze! The group of Al Rostamani had achieved this with their elaborate balcony lines, which looked like mazes. Would you mind if we could work here?

Longest Painting

This is an artistic addition to the list of world records in Dubai. A painting measuring 10,85 km was created by more than 20,000 children, teachers, and parents during the year 2015. In order to draw attention to autism, the world's longest painting has been made, which beats a record set by China for 10 km. The attempt was part of an eight-month-long campaign that took place at the Dubai Autodrome. Each child had to draw a portrait of themselves holding hands with another child. We call it a record for a good cause in Dubai!

Biggest Jigsaw Puzzle

It's hard enough to solve a jigsaw puzzle but with 12,000 pieces? Impossible. Apart from Dubai, there was nearly no way to do it. The world's largest jigsaw puzzle with a surface area of over 6,000 square meters is one of the most recent Dubai Guinness World Records. They're located in the Uptown district of DMCC. However, there's an essential note to this world record. The jigsaw puzzle has a picture of the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed, on it.

World’s Biggest Cup of Tea

We all love tea. But could you drink five thousand gallons of tea? In 2018 a cup of tea taller than 3.66 meters was displayed at the Global Village Dubai. In this Dubai World Record, the biggest cup in the world is 1.42 m wide and filled with 5,000 liters of tea. Specifically for this record, a heating system was installed to maintain a sizzling 85 degrees Celsius!

Wrapping Up

We have covered some of the most underrated and often overlooked record-breakers in Dubai. We bet you didn’t know about most of them since they’re not as popular as Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, or Dubai Fountains (all of which hold Guinness Records too). Some of the record-breaking tourist attractions can no longer be exhibited (for example, the Chocolate Tower) while others are still there. Pay them a visit next time you’re in Dubai, and follow our blog for more cool info.
