Do I need permission to take a child to the Emirates

Do I need permission to take a child to the Emirates

Some parents are so attached to their children that they cannot travel without them and always take the little ones with them.

There is also a category of mothers and fathers who simply have no one to leave their child with and are forced to travel with him. It is worthwhile to understand in advance whether permission is needed to take the child to the Emirates, so as not to run into trouble at the border. Fortunately, airlines have special rules and amenities for babies and children to simplify the procedure and make travel comfortable even for the youngest tourists.

Small children

A child under the age of two is an infant, according to the web resources of the airlines and the UAE real estate website, this age category is allowed to travel on airplanes if the baby:

  • was born without complications;
  • age more than seven days;
  • not born prematurely.

If the baby was born prematurely or with complications, the parents must submit a MEDIF form and a medical report. You should also be aware that infants under seven days of age will be allowed on board if traveling for a medical emergency (incubators) or if the mother is traveling for important health reasons. If a mother wants to buy an apartment in the UAE, complete any documents or find a job, it is best to do it online, without exposing herself and her baby to risks.

Flight Rules for Children

According to the websites of airlines based in the UAE, the following flight rules apply for children:

  • Children under the age of 5 cannot travel alone.
  • Children between the ages of 5 and 12 can travel alone using the airline's "Unaccompanied Minor" service.
  • Unaccompanied minors are required to pay "adult" fares.

But it's also important to know that Air Arabia does not allow children between the ages of 5 and 12 to travel alone. A second passenger who is at least 16 years of age must accompany them. Fly Dubai does not permit children under the age of 12 to travel alone unless the child is accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 16 years of age.
